A new document from Public Health England (PHE) highlights the ongoing impact of cardiovascular disease (CVD), and provides an overview of PHEs work in CVD.

It systematically reviews the organisation’s work in supporting CVD prevention and identifies key priorities for action in the coming year which include:

  • strengthening internal working and alignment within PHE
  • strengthening collaboration with external partners to deliver better outcomes in CVD
  • providing system leadership to support the NHS as it gets serious about prevention.

Release of the document in accompanied by release of a new heart age tool which allows people to calculate their heart age using their blood pressure and cholesterol level.

The document is intended for those involved in the commissioning and provision of services for cardiovascular disease and its prevention, including clinicians, local authorities, service commissioners, public health specialists, the third sector and PHE staff.
